HKUST Hosts the International AI Industrial Innovation Network at WAIC 2026 and Signs Agreement with MetaX

HKUST hosted the International AI Industrial Innovation Network at WAIC 2026, bringing together universities, startups and industrial labs to accelerate responsible AI deployment.

During the conference the University signed an Industrial Innovation Practice Center project agreement with MetaX, opening a channel for students and faculty to work on production-grade AI systems.

The Network extends HKUST’s role as a founding and core member of more than 40 international alliances — translating convening power into research, internships and knowledge transfer.

It also reflects a broader push to connect Hong Kong’s deep-tech ecosystem with partners from Mainland China, ASEAN, Europe and North America.
